Missouri business entity search and name check
Search business records
Missouri is one of the few states where an LLC files no annual report at all, and forming one online costs $50 against $105 on paper. The registry is kept by the Secretary of State's Corporations Division and searched through Missouri Business Filings. That site puts automated visitors through a bot-protection check, so we link you to it rather than searching it here.

- How we search Missouri
- Official site only (we hand you off). Missouri's business search site runs a bot-protection check that blocks automated requests, and we don't try to get around it, so we link you to the official search.
- What a result can tell you
- Searching the official site shows names on record. Missouri decides acceptance when you file.
- State fee to form an LLC
- $50 (Articles of Organization (Form LLC-1))
- Ongoing LLC filing
- No annual report required for LLCs
What the Missouri search covers
The Business Entity Search covers businesses registered with the Missouri Secretary of State. Fictitious names (DBAs) are registered with the Secretary of State as well.
Each record has a Charter Number. Search by number on the Missouri Business Filings (Business Entity Search).
How to read Missouri results
Missouri uses its own status labels. We always show the official wording; here is what the common ones mean according to the state:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Administratively Dissolved | The Secretary of State can dissolve a corporation that doesn't file its annual report on time, doesn't keep a registered agent, reaches the end of its stated duration, or in several other situations. After that it may only wind up its affairs. Source: sos.mo.gov |
A status describes the registry filing only. It isn’t evidence of a license, tax compliance or reputation, and a record with the same name as a company you know may be a different business. More on statuses.

An LLC name must be distinguishable on the Secretary of State's records from any corporation, LLC, limited partnership, LLP or LLLP formed, reserved or registered in Missouri. (RSMo 347.020) Source: revisor.mo.gov
Missouri doesn’t publish a list of the differences it ignores, so our check treats only capitalization and punctuation as insignificant and flags other close names as similar for you to judge.
