Privacy policy

Short version: you don’t need an account or an email address, we don’t sell your searches, and we don’t send the names you search to formation services.

Searches

When you search, your query goes to our server, which sends it to the source for that jurisdiction to get results. Identical searches are cached for up to 15 minutes so state systems aren’t queried repeatedly. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, keeps standard request logs, which can include the search address and your IP address, for operating and securing the service. We don’t build profiles of visitors or keep a history of what you searched.

The names you search are not shared with formation services, advertisers or data brokers, and are never sold as leads.

Your shortlist

If you save names to your shortlist, they’re stored only in your browser (local storage) on that device. We can’t see them. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Analytics

We use Numative, a cookieless analytics service, to count page views and understand which pages are useful. It doesn’t use cookies, and we’ve turned off its form-capture feature so what you type into the search isn’t collected by it.

Links to formation services

When you select a formation service, our link goes through a redirect at /go/ and then to the provider. If we have an affiliate relationship, the provider’s network may set a tracking cookie on their site so the referral can be credited. We don’t pass your proposed name or any personal information to them; you enter that on their site if you choose to.

Public records

Search results contain information that states publish in their business registries. We show the fields needed to identify a record and don’t add personal information from other sources. See privacy requests.
