Wyoming business entity search and name check
Search business records
To check a Wyoming business, use WyoBiz, the Secretary of State Business Division's filing search, which shows each filing's status and its tax and registered-agent standing. We link you there rather than searching it ourselves. A Wyoming LLC costs $100 to form, and each year it pays an annual report license tax of at least $60, due on the first day of the month it was formed.

- How we search Wyoming
- Official site only (we hand you off). Wyoming's official search shows a bot-protection check before every page loads, so we send you to the official site instead of searching it for you.
- What a result can tell you
- Searching the official site shows names on record. Wyoming decides acceptance when you file.
- State fee to form an LLC
- $100 (Articles of Organization)
- Ongoing LLC filing
- Annual Report (License Tax), $60. Due on the first day of the month in which the LLC was formed
What the Wyoming search covers
WyoBiz covers for-profit and nonprofit corporations, LLCs (including series LLCs), limited partnerships, registered limited liability partnerships, statutory trusts, processing cooperatives, out-of-state businesses registered in Wyoming, and trade names and trademarks registered with the Secretary of State. We couldn't confirm whether inactive businesses appear in results.
Each record has a Filing ID. Search by number on the WyoBiz.
How to read Wyoming results
Wyoming does not publish definitions for its status labels in one place. We show the official wording exactly as the registry gives it.
A status describes the registry filing only. It isn’t evidence of a license, tax compliance or reputation, and a record with the same name as a company you know may be a different business. More on statuses.
Wyoming business name rules
An LLC name must include one of: Limited Liability Company
, LLC
, L.L.C.
, Limited Company
, LC
, L.C.
, Ltd. Liability Company
, Ltd. Liability Co.
, Limited Liability Co.
.
The name must be distinguishable upon the records of the Secretary of State from other business entity names, reserved names and registered names, and may not be the same as or deceptively similar to a registered Wyoming trademark or service mark. (W.S. 17-29-108; 17-16-401) Source: sos.wyo.gov
Wyoming doesn’t publish a list of the differences it ignores, so our check treats only capitalization and punctuation as insignificant and flags other close names as similar for you to judge.
Professional LLCs
Wyoming has a separate name reservation form for professional entities. We couldn't confirm their naming rules.
Using a similar name with consent
Yes. Wyoming will allow a name that is not distinguishable if the holder of the existing name consents in writing and agrees to change its own name (W.S. 17-29-108(c)).
Reserving a name in Wyoming
Wyoming lets you reserve a name before you form the business for $60, held for 120 days.
Mail the Application for Reservation of Name with a $60 check or money order; it can't be sent by email. Processing takes up to 15 business days. You don't need a reservation if you file your Articles of Organization at the same time.
Searching on this site doesn’t reserve anything. Only WY SOS Business Division can.

$100 state fee
You fill in the Articles of Organization yourself and pay only the state. You’ll need a registered agent with a Wyoming street address; that can be you if you have one.
Use a formation service
A service prepares and files the paperwork, and most can act as your registered agent and send compliance reminders. You still pay the state fee on top of their price, and the state still decides whether to accept your name.
